Is a career change necessary?

It is not uncommon that people don’t like their jobs, it’s a reality of working life.  You will find those that love their job, will have times when work is not their most favourite place.

If you have feelings of contempt for your work on a regular basis, it could be that you are in the wrong career and a career change to another may prove a prudent step.

The best way to really understand and accept that it might be time for a career change is to honestly assess how you feel about what you do. Start to write things down about your work experience.

If you are undertaking a specific work task, that has come directly from your manager, how does that make you feel? Are you pleased with the responsibility or angered you have been allocated the task?

Do you get on with the majority of people at work, or are you at odds with people or a specific individual.

The key to writing things down is to note exactly how you feel about various aspects of your job and then look for any  recurring themes.  Do you not like work because of the people around you or because of what you are actually doing?  Or maybe you are in conflict with specific company policies.

Only once you have identified the answer to why you are  unhappy with your job, you can begin to start to begin your career change….
